Spectrum 14

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

I just received my hardcover copy of Spectrum 14: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art. I was lucky enough to get two pieces in this year, both from Mythos: X-Men, which came out in January 2006 (though I think I painted them in early 2005). The book seems bigger and nicer than ever and I'm excited to be a part of it. I'm already thinking about what I will enter next year.

  2. I love seeing digital versions of these X-Men pages, and I can't wait until this issue is collected with the rest in a nicer format. The colouring on the original was way too dark and didn't do the images justice.

  3. Congrats for getting into Spectrum - it is always a great book we pour over for weeks. We haven't got this years copy yet but we look forward to grabbing it.

Who/what was your highlight from this years edition?

  4. I haven't picked up an issue since number 11, so I was amazed to see so many new, talented names throughout. It's hard to narrow it down with such an immense collection, but if I had to pick my favorite thing, it would be the Art Adams endpapers.

  7. Thanks, Francis! That's a bold statement.

Flaptraps, I know this is 3 years late, but... thanks! Don't know how I missed your comment.
